报告摘要:The characterization of topological phases is an important open problem. In this talk, I will present a field theory of Majorana fermions as a unified description to understand a family of topological phases in 1D spin chains and interacting fermion systems. In the first part, I will focus on spin chains, including bilinear-biquadratic models with SO(n) symmetry and intermediate Haldane phase in S=2 chains. In the second part, I will discuss the possibility of generating Majorana edge states in a two-leg ladder of interacting fermions.
