报告题目:Spinor Bose-Einstein condensates and Squeezing the Heisenburg Uncertainty Principle

报告摘要:Ultracold atoms have many applications to important problems in physics today, including quantum computing, development of advanced quantum sensors, and the study of quantum gases including Bose-Einstein condensates. Our experiments in these areas will be described, focusing on our development of all-optical atomic Bose Einstein condensates. We will discuss how we create ‘squeezed’ quantum states in the condensates that enable measurement precision surpassing the Standard Quantum Limit derived from the Heisenburg Uncertainty Principle. This work has important applications to precision measurements including atomic clocks, inertial sensing and magnetometry.
